The Polish Institute of World Art Studies
The Polish Institute of World Art Studies is an organization whose aim is to research world art, theatre and artistic culture. The Institute conducts scientific research, issues periodicals and book series, organises international conferences and national seminars. Among scholars associated with the Institute there are 28 professors and 73 doctors. The activity can be dated back to the year 2000 and the establishment of the Society of Modern Art in Toruń. In 2006, the Polish Society of Oriental Art was established in Warsaw. The organizations merged in 2011. The Institute cooperates with Tako Publishing House based in Toruń.
The Institute publishes and co-publishes periodicals - Art of the Orient, Arte de America Latina, (The) Artistic Tradition of Non-European Cultures, Pamiętnik Sztuk Pięknych / Fine Arts Diary, Series Byzantina, Sztuka Europy Wschodniej / Искусство Восточней Европы and World Art Studies, as well as series – Studia i monografie / Studies and Monographs, Studia o sztuce nowoczesnej / Studies on modern Art, Studia z architektury nowoczesnej / Studies on the modern architecture, Sztuka żydowska w Polsce i Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej / Jewish art in Poland and Central-East Europe, Toruńskie Studia o Sztuce Orientu / Toruń Studies on Oriental Art , Źródła do Dziejów Sztuki / Sources for Art History.
