The Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź
The Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź is the best place for all those whose future lies in art and design. The academy’s attractive educational offer, excellent teachers and modern studios guarantee that students are well prepared for their career and will succeed on the increasingly competitive labour market.
Prospective students can choose from a broad spectrum of art and design courses on six faculties of the academy. The course offer includes fashion design (as the only public higher education institution we present our student with the possibility of obtaining an MA diploma in the field), jewellery design, theatre, film and TV techniques and many others. The Academy also offers third cycle studies and a wide variety of postgraduate courses in the fields such as food design and illustration and comics.
Our students win many prestigious competitions and their projects attract the attention of representatives of the business and industry world. The Academy makes every effort to promote students by organizing exhibitions and competitions in which the most valuable prizes are internships in design studios in Poland and abroad.
Each year many outstanding artists graduate from the academy and begin successful national and international careers. Among our graduates there are such well-known artists and designers as Łukasz Jemioł, Marcin Paprocki and Mariusz Brzozowski, Teodor Durski and Andrzej Bikowski.
In 2013 the Academy opened two modern units: the Fashion Promotion Centre and the Centre of Science and Art. In 2014, with the support of the City of Łódź Office, the Academy undertook the initiative to bring to life the Academic Design Centre – a platform for cooperation of all design faculties at Polish public academies of fine arts.
The Academy offers a wide range of scholarships, including study periods abroad within the Erasmus+ Programme. We cooperate with over sixty higher education institutions throughout Europe, sending and receiving students and academic teachers.
Our institution participates in numerous international projects. In 2015 we began cooperation with Master Hiromi Inayoshi, a Japanese visual identification and logo designer of world renown. The artist ran an intensive graphic workshop for students which resulted in the creation of the visual identification for the Copernicus Memorial Hospital in Łódź. In 2016 Hiromi Inayoshi managed a fine arts and design competition ‘From One Asia to One World’.
Students and teachers participate in exhibitions, workshops and symposia organized all over the world (Japan, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania, Ukraine, Italy, the Czech Republic, France, Great Britain). An increasing number of the academy’s representatives takes part in international fairs and festivals, such as Premiere Vision in Paris, Heimtextil in Frankfurt am Main, Amberif in Gdańsk and DMY in Beriln.
The Academy is the organizer of the International Summer Courses of Printmaking and Textile Art – PATA, an event which gathers participants from Italy, the United States, Japan, Luxemburg, Switzerland and many other countries.
